The main components are citronellol, geraniol, nerol, linalool, fatty saturated alcohols, waxes, as well as acetates, free acids, aldehydes – fatty and aromatic ketones, phenols, phenol ethers, etc.

Rose Oil Application
Bulgarian rose oil is traditionally used in perfumery and cosmetics, but its use has since expanded into the food flavouring and pharmaceutical industries:
- Perfumery and fragrance industry – used in various luxury perfume compositions and fragrances.
- Cosmetics industry – widely used in cosmetics for luxury creams and lotions. It is suitable for all skin types, but it is especially valuable for dry, sensitive or ageing skin.
- Pharmaceutical industry – Bulgarian rose oil has neuropharmacological effects as well as effects on the respiratory and cardiovascular systems, anti-diabetic effects and antimicrobial and antioxidant effects. It can be used in the treatment of abdominal and chest pain and in strengthening the heart as well as for skincare. In addition, it has a tonic and astringent effect on the capillaries just below the skin surface which makes it useful in diminishing the redness caused by enlarged capillaries. It also helps with bronchial asthma, pulmonary abscesses and pulmonary tuberculosis.
- Hospitality and wellness industry – used in aromatherapy and spas.
